Police Accountability Board, or PAB, member Cheryl Owens stepped down one day after Jen Louis’ appointment as the chief of Berkeley Police Department passed in a city council vote May 9.

Berkeley’s Police Accountability Board, or PAB, met Wednesday evening to discuss the department’s staff shortage, the recent rise in sexual assault reports and the usage of audited body working cameras, or BWCs, on Berkeley police.

Allegations of misconduct against Berkeley Police Department, or BPD, were brought to Berkeley Mayor Jesse Arreguín and City Council Thursday, prompting an external investigation.

Berkeley's Police Accountability Board appointed John Moore as the PAB’s new chair during their bi-monthly meeting Sept. 28. 

The Berkeley Police Accountability Board, or PAB, heard the chief of police’s report on incidents of interest and discussed concerns about PAB’s role in advising City Council of the selection of the director of police accountability at its regular meeting Wednesday night.
