Berkeley school board considers consolidating REALM Charter School

BUSD school board approves BHS universal 9th-grade redesign

The Berkeley Unified School District Board of Education voted Wednesday to approve a universal ninth-grade program for all incoming Berkeley High School freshmen which will take effect beginning fall 2018.

1 percent wage raise for teachers in BUSD, Berkeley Federation of Teachers agreement

The Berkeley Unified School District, or BUSD, and the Berkeley Federation of Teachers, or BFT, a labor union that represents more than 800 BUSD teachers and school staff, have reached a tentative agreement in 2017-18 and 2018-19 contract negotiations, according to a joint press release issued Wednesday.

Berkeley soda tax revenue to fund cooking, gardening programs in local schools

Berkeley City Council has allocated $675,000 to the Berkeley Unified School District Gardening and Cooking Program, which will be used to fund a Health and Wellness Project — an after school workshop where elementary, middle and high school students can learn how to cook and the values of healthy eating.
