The UC Berkeley Haas School of Business is updating its curriculum to integrate environmental sustainability into its courses.

As part of UC Berkeley's virtual conversations, four campus faculty experts gathered Friday to talk about the challenges of reopening the economy after the pandemic ends.

The onset of COVID-19 has impacted the campus research community, both halting current projects and spurring new ones.

This fall, the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering is offering an interdisciplinary program for doctoral students that prepares them to implement and evaluate technological solutions to problems faced by low-income economies. The program, Designated Emphasis in Development Engineering, allows students to work with faculty diverse departments including business, economics and public health.

If appointed chair of the Federal Reserve, UC Berkeley professor emerita Janet Yellen, the front runner for the position, will bring with her a wealth of economic experience from her time on campus and in other government posts.

Yellen holds a position as Professor Emerita of Economics at the Haas School of Business and if appointed, she would be both the first female and UC Berkeley professor to serve as chair.

UC Berkeley researchers have launched an initiative to improve the welfare of Ugandan villagers by encouraging entrepreneurship and economic growth in local communities.
