David Patterson

Elwyn Berlekamp, a UC Berkeley professor emeritus in mathematics and electrical engineering and computer sciences, or EECS, died April 9 at his home in Piedmont, California from complications of pulmonary fibrosis. He was 78.

The Association for Computing Machinery granted UC Berkeley computer science professor emeritus David Patterson and former president of Stanford University John Hennessy the ACM A.M. Turing Award for their work in the development of RISC microprocessors.
