I’m one of those people who was always caught off guard when daylight savings time would start and stop. I never knew which two days of the year it fell on, it always just suddenly creeped up on me.

While there is only about a week of winter left, I still loathe the infamous groundhog for extending the darker nights alongside this cold weather.

It wasn’t too long ago when I was just wishing you farewell. But right as I was getting accustomed to your absence, you returned. I could not be more thrilled, and I’m sure many others feel the same. Seeing you in the sky after 6:00 p.m. has been so nurturing, especially with all the stress that the world has been under these last few weeks. Your return couldn’t be more timely.

On Nov. 3, the clock struck 1 a.m. twice. This phenomenon was caused by the start of daylight saving time, in which clocks nationwide are set back one hour.

AB 807 would authorize the state Legislature to consider eliminating the time switch and move to daylight saving time all year.
