For undocumented students at UC Berkeley, DACA provides the authorization necessary to receive financial aid through Director’s Work Study, according to the campus Undocumented Student Program, or USP, website.

All Berkeley can do now is wait, hope that its resources are enough and ride out what is –– in the final analysis –– just another battle in a long, exhausting clash of political civilizations.

The Berkeley Unified School District announced in a press release Tuesday that it has joined seven other California school districts and other education agencies in a federal lawsuit that seeks to block the Trump administration’s repeal of Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program, or DACA.

In the midst of the Trump administration’s threats to undocumented residents, a network consisting of 11 jurisdictions, including Oakland and Alameda County, will provide publicly funded legal representation to anyone facing deportation.

A more constructive relationship with Napolitano is necessary if students are to continue successfully lobbying the UC administration.
