Diversity Affairs Commission

The ASUC Senate approved a bill to condemn antisemitism, with nine of 20 of the senators absent in protest of it Wednesday.

The ASUC Senate is set to vote on whether to reestablish a housing commission that previously advocated for affordable student housing. The commission would aim to bring more transparency between campus administration and the student body regarding housing projects.

The ASUC Senate held a special meeting Friday to pass several bills surrounding new appointments for various positions as well as several measures to increase disability equity on campus and reinforce support for undocumented students.

The ASUC Diversity Affairs Commission recently released data from the fall 2018 semester that comes from a survey designed to provide transparency surrounding the diversity within the association.

The ASUC currently sponsors seven commissions, each with a board and chair, which are tasked with promoting campus resources and being the point of contact for their areas of expertise.

The first summit for ASUC commission chairs was held Sunday, following a suspension of three commissions for failing to follow protocols that were set last year.

Senators debated the legitimacy of a resolution that was introduced and passed in the same meeting — a process that is illegal.
