Suspect faces quadruple murder charges in connection with fatal hit-and-run

Fred Lowe, 47, of Sacramento will face quadruple murder charges for his involvement in a multi-vehicle hit-and-run that left four dead and six injured Nov. 25. Cal baseball pitcher Jared Horn survived the crash with minor injuries.

At the UC Board of Regent’s request, a U.S. District Court judge will consider next Thursday whether to dismiss a lawsuit alleging that the university neglected to protect a former student and her son from domestic violence.

Thanksgiving weekend sees decrease in DUIs, increase in fatalities

For most Americans, Thanksgiving is a time of tradition, eating turkey, spending time with family and watching the Detroit Lions lose on national television. For the California Highway Patrol, it is one of their busiest weekends of the year as it brings DUI arrests and traffic fatalities.
