Water capped for parts of Contra Costa, Alameda counties

In an effort to reduce water use while combating one of the driest January to March periods in both Contra Costa and Alameda counties, the East Bay Municipal Utility District voted for a water restriction that will conserve water for residents in the upcoming year.

The board of the East Bay Municipal Utility District, or EBMUD, voted 6-1 on Tuesday to seek a 10% reduction in water use, the first restriction since 2016.
