As students navigate new normals amid a continuing pandemic, the Berkeley Unified School District continues to try to support its houseless or food-insecure families through a myriad of programs. 

The pandemic has positioned youth experiencing homelessness to be at the greatest risk of being affected by COVID-19.

In an effort to provide STEM opportunities to underrepresented student populations in Berkeley middle schools, more than $500,000 in grants was given to Berkeley Unified School District, or BUSD, and the Berkeley Public Schools Fund.

Colored pencils and notebooks are among the free school supplies being distributed to students most impacted by the Berkeley Unified School District, or BUSD, closure.

The half-marathon course, which is 13.1 miles long, started at the intersection of Kittredge and Milvia streets and took participants down Telegraph Avenue, through Sather Gate and around the UC Berkeley campus.

In light of looming deficits, the city of Berkeley may face difficulties in funding future Sunday Streets, a new and well received community event.

Berkeley community members took to the streets Sunday for an event that closed off 17 blocks of Shattuck Avenue for pedestrian and bicyclist usage.

This Sunday, a stretch of Shattuck Avenue more than a mile long will be transformed into a public space hosting more than 80 activities, expositions and performances, right in the middle of the street.
