UC Berkeley researchers have created an insect-sized robot with the speed of a cockroach and the agility of a cheetah to potentially assist search and rescue missions. 

By looking at blue butterflies, UC Berkeley researchers found that certain structures affected by a specific gene in butterflies’ wings determine their color.

A California oak moth caterpillar outbreak is currently sweeping campus, leaving trees defoliated and the campus community concerned.

Calbug, a project initiated by UC Berkeley’s Essig Museum of Entomology to digitize insect specimens, will employ volunteer archivists to catalog and sort through more than one million samples.
