On Jan. 3, the ASUC Senate Inter-Semester Committee held a brief virtual meeting mainly composed of a closed session in which the contract between the Wall Street Journal and the ASUC was discussed. 

“We’re really intent on making sure we’re going to be able to achieve the things we talked about, the things we promised to students,” President Alexander Wilfert said.

ASUC President Zaynab AbdulQadir-Morris faced reductions to her stipend because she did not meet the deadline for submitting her accountability reports.

In this budget, the group that obtained the most funding is SUPERB, which is an ASUC-chartered program rather than a Registered Student Organization.

The ASUC Senate passed nine resolutions at their weekly Wednesday meeting, including the Promoting Empowerment of Personnel Leadership & Excellence, or P.E.O.P.L.E., Act, and four referendums for the April election ballot.

The new ASUC Senate class gathered Wednesday evening at Anna Head Alumnae Hall for its first meeting of the academic year, receiving updates from ASUC executives and campus officials, and defining three areas of focus for the 2015-16 Advocacy Agenda in Senate Resolution 001.

The ASUC proposals for the next year’s budget and revised election bylaws may be in conflict after a meeting of the ASUC Senate’s Governance and Internal Affairs Committee Monday night.

The ASUC Senate passed two bills concerning the commencement speaker selection process and another that aims to improve policies for minorities Wednesday. A bill concerning the investment management of the ASUC was passed but will be tabled for further consideration next week.
