UC Berkeley Graduate School of Journalism works with ‘Frontline’ on extremism documentary

As part of the Investigative Reporting Program at UC Berkeley’s Graduate School of Journalism, students Ellie Lightfoot and Kathryn Hurd have been investigating Steven Carrillo, an alleged murderer. The investigation has been taking place throughout the last year, and it has transformed into a collaboration with “Frontline” and ProPublica.

For the past year, UC Berkeley Graduate School of Journalism students Ellie Lightfoot and Kathryn Hurd have been investigating the background of Steven Carrillo, an alleged murderer with connections to alt-right extremist groups in the “Boogaloo” movement, as part of their work with the campus Investigative Reporting Program, or IRP.
