There are exploitations everywhere, but the challenge is being cognizant of how we sit amid someone being complicit in someone else’s oppression, even when we are also oppressed.

Abortion isn’t just a women's right; it is also an LGBTQ+ right. It is a human right.

Inspired by the intensified repression of artistic freedom in Eastern Europe, Berkeley Law student Annabelle Wilmott launched pro bono project Arts and Innovation Representation, or AIR, to increase safeguards for international artists and allow law students to investigate foreign artistic repression.  

By diving beneath our daily habits, we can see how coffee cultivation contributes to deforestation, loss of biodiversity and glaring human rights abuses.

The arrival of President Joe Biden’s administration is not a magical solution to all our problems, but it is the first step. Now, we all have to keep the government accountable for the effectiveness of its policy decisions.

So what happens when activists prioritize branding? They downplay the importance of policy for uncritical, often expensive, gatherings and capitalize on the grandiose rhetoric of “empowerment” and “human rights.”
