Campus freshman Luca Hadife is running independently for ASUC Senate on a platform of sustainability, Greek life engagement and international student representation. The foundations for his campaign stem from his background as an international student from Lebanon studying sustainable and environmental design. 

State legislators unveiled a new proposal Tuesday that would increase the number of California residents admitted to three UC colleges by limiting out-of-state and international enrollment.

As campus plans to return to in-person instruction for the fall 2021 semester, international students seeking visas to study in the United States are facing difficulties related to COVID-19 measures that may prevent them from getting to campus.

UC Berkeley saw a 1.2 percent decrease in international student freshman applicants for the 2016-2017 admissions cycle — the first dip in international applications the campus has experienced in over a decade.

The flags of America, Bangladesh and India stood tall on the steps of Sproul Plaza as a memorial vigil took place to commemorate campus sophomore and Indian citizen Tarishi Jain and other victims who lost their lives alongside her in the terror attacks that took place in Bangladesh on Friday.
