TargetExpress opens in Downtown Berkeley, the first of its kind in the city

A small Target supermarket opened Wednesday in Downtown Berkeley, making it the first of its kind in the city.

TargetExpress, the smallest-format Target store, opened on the corner of Shattuck Avenue and Allston Way. The store is about 12,000 square feet in size, and is approximately 15 percent of the size of the average Target store.

The owner of San Francisco’s Bourbon & Branch opened a new bar in a historical building in Downtown Berkeley last week. Tupper & Reed, owned by Future Bars, is located at 2271 Shattuck Ave. in a building that has been home to several businesses since opening its doors in 1925.
