UC Berkeley’s College of Letters and Science computer science department proposed amendments to its computer science major declaration process for incoming students.

This year, student organizers have begun to call out university relationships that run counter to campus values — and they are persisting through the pandemic.

Campus teaching assistants and instructors were barred from proctoring exams online for the remainder of the semester, according to a campuswide email sent by Executive Vice Chancellor and Provost Paul Alivisatos.

On Thursday, about 50 community members attended a tense discussion about UC Berkeley’s affiliation with software giant Palantir and corporate recruitment and interacted with five panelists regarding possible solutions.

About 50 students and community members met at 12 p.m. to march against UC Berkeley’s ties with Silicon Valley software giant Palantir, which was set to hold a campus information session with the electrical engineering and computer sciences, or EECS, department Tuesday.
