The UC system reached a tentative contract agreement Tuesday with the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees Local 3299, or AFSCME Local 3299, a union that represents systemwide patient and service care workers.

UC Board of Regents discusses basic needs, hears concerns from students, UC workers

Nearly all of the students also echoed their support for contract bargaining by the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees, or AFSCME, Local 3299. Members of AFSCME Local 3299 also gave public comment and urged the regents to stop outsourcing staff jobs to contract workers.

“Students staged a sit-in and protest outside Dirks’ office Thursday afternoon, banging on desks with spoons and chanting pro-community benefits agreement slogans … Later Thursday afternoon, a group consisting of about 75 labor activists, Richmond residents and students marched from Sproul Plaza to the area in front of University House.”
