Berkeley City Council discusses housing instability, restorative justice at meeting

A vocal crowd of about 60 people gathered in Berkeley Unified School District’s boardroom for a controversial Berkeley City Council meeting Tuesday night to discuss restorative justice practices for a housing instability incident, among other things.

Berkeley resident returns to home with help of community, city

Longtime South Berkeley resident Leonard Powell was able to return to his home May 28 once he was able to pay for the necessary renovations to meet health and safety codes with the help of the community, according to a post by South Berkeley resident group Friends of Adeline.

Berkeley residents start GoFundMe to help senior veteran regain housing

Friends of Adeline, a South Berkeley neighborhood organization, started a GoFundMe page to raise funds for retired Berkeley resident Leonard Powell in order to help him regain access to his home.
