LGBTQ+ Pride Month

Thus, we came to the conclusion to take a pause and reflect on who we are as a newspaper, and how we can and should do better to amplify the voices of the LGBTQ+ community — regardless of what month it is. 

Few words have entered our modern lexicon as pervasively as the word “slay,” and like many other slang words, its history is interesting and culturally important.

Now that it’s June, one can no longer hide from all the rainbows and corporate-virtue signaling for Pride Month. As someone from the LGBTQ+ community, I wanted to switch it up and give a voice to an underrepresented group: straight men.

When Berkeley City Council member Terry Taplin and his partner lost their apartment in the Southside neighborhood and lived with Taplin’s mother for a few weeks, he came out to his mom. She kicked them out, making them temporarily homeless.
