Throughout the flurry of midterms and the hours dedicated to studying whizzing by to the drizzling rain that resembles many of our tears, the overall aura of Berkeley has been dimmed from what once was a golden yellow to a bleak gray.

As someone who hasn’t been back home since July, I know how hard it can be to be apart from your family. Even though you may have a lot going on during college, it’s important to stay connected to the people who helped raise you and are important figures in your life.

Still, the journey to joy is riddled with obstacles and illusions. Happiness is subjective to time, identity and experience. Though my current perception of happiness will surely change in the future, I know there will forever remain sources I cannot outgrow.

While the small things don’t typically make me blush, in the rare situations when I do feel embarrassed, I feel it deeply.
