At the end of the regular season, the Bears had 14 swimmers and one diver qualify for the NCAA championships and all have been named All-Americans.

The Bears didn’t get a shot at redemption, nor did they get a chance to compete for a National Championship. Instead, they got nothing.

This is it. Cal’s back is up against the wall now. They are in must win mode as the only meet left is the National Championships.

Although this was the end of an era, the senior Bears left their fans satisfied as they crushed both Arizona and Arizona State by 95 points each.

The Bears showed off their consistency, defeating the San Jose State Spartans for the fourth consecutive time by an eye-popping 142 points.

Cal senior and Olympic gold medalist Abbey Weitzeil became the first woman to break the 21-second barrier in the 50-yard freestyle as the Bears dominated the Minnesota Invitational.

Despite the Bears’ respectable performance in conference, Cal remains an outside contender for the title this season. Even so, the team believes that it can prove doubters wrong at the NCAA championships.

The final meet of the year proved to be of no major difficulty to Cal, as the Bears easily handled their cross-Bay rivals by a score of 163-63.

The No. 4 Bears headed to Palo Alto well-aware of the seemingly unstoppable dominance of their opponent — undefeated No. 1 Stanford — and ultimately became just another crew to be conquered in a definitive 186-110 loss.

Cal is now a perfect 9-0 on the season and is undefeated in conference after taking down No. 9 USC and UCLA this weekend.
