The more things change, the more they stay the same. Key players will come and go, but Cal’s 2021 roster will continue to shape up.

After notching 183 yards in four games in 2020, Polk will take his talents and two years of eligibility east to Mike Leach’s air raid offense.

Should Polk decide to transfer, his presence will be sorely missed. Polk ranked behind only Kekoa Crawford in receiving yards this season, racking up 183 yards and a touchdown over the season's four games.

2020 will largely be remembered for the COVID-19 pandemic and its effects on college football, but there are still things for Cal fans to take away.

By following Polk to the middle of the field, Lenoir left the deep-left portion of the field wide open, and Garbers was able to recognize this and capitalize.

His teammates swarmed around him and showered him with praise as the Cal sideline erupted in celebration, but Polk was engulfed in something else entirely.

It was Cal’s defense that held the line and produced the team’s first win of 2020, a 21-17 upset over No. 23 Oregon that ensured Cal’s fifth consecutive season with a win over a ranked team.

There will be no fans, no bands and no field-storming. Just the two teams and an ax sitting on the sideline, anxiously awaiting its reclamation.

With a promising lineup of receivers, an up-and-coming quarterback, new offensive schemes and coaches and a collective chip on their shoulders, the Bears are no doubt looking to dial up the magic that characterized last year’s season.

Cal fans have a lot to look forward to this season, and the avid viewer should look for space and precision in the offense as the season progresses. Bill Musgrave brings a new offensive philosophy to this Cal team and looks poised to have the first offensive identity since Sonny Dykes and his Air Raid offense.
