State legislators approved amendments to a controversial online education bill last week in response to opposition by faculty members in the state’s public higher education institutions.

The Academic Senate of the University of California signed an open letter last Friday condemning a senate bill requiring the state’s public colleges and universities to accept faculty-approved online college courses for credit.
