When Sean Spicer walked up to the lectern in front of a crowded Evans Hall lecture room, he was met with a round of applause that took him aback: “that was not the introduction I was expecting but I appreciate it.”

While Berkeley College Republicans, or BCR, is celebrating amendments to the campus's Major Events Policy after a lawsuit settlement with UC Berkeley, the campus administration maintains that student organizations will see “no significant changes” to the policy.

Before the meeting began, people gathered on Lower Sproul, carrying a banner that read, “Senator Chow Resign Now." Student Action, the party that Chow ran with, recently cut ties with her over the anti-LGBTQ+ comments she made during the Oct. 31 meeting.

East Bay voters must choose between blue and green, as the ballot lists both incumbent Rep. Barbara Lee, D-Oakland, and Green Party activist Laura Wells. Both candidates’ platforms include education reform, health care accessibility and addressing class inequality.

Savio enacted this civil disobedience — one of the defining moments of the campus Free Speech Movement — to protest the arrest of then-campus graduate student Jack Weinberg, who had been cited for tabling for social justice group Congress of Racial Equality, which was against the UC’s policies at the time.

The reform plan also proposed consolidating parts of the Department of the Interior and the Department of Agriculture into the Environmental Protection Agency, and merging the National Marine Fisheries Service with the Fish and Wildlife Service, to improve federal wildlife and fisheries policies.

Conservative radio host Dennis Prager debated with two UC Berkeley students, aiming to challenge audience members to think critically about free speech as part of his “No Safe Spaces” event Tuesday.

Members of the Berkeley College Republicans and other campus students were the victims of a cyber attack Friday, which exposed their private information in a public post online.
