There is so much stigma associated with menstrual health that an education system that constantly pushes this topic behind closed doors is dangerous.

It’s 2021 and we still don’t talk about periods as we should. Women should not have to fit their time of the month into a box of expectations.

No matter how much I have distanced myself from womanhood, I still have to deal with a part of myself that is gendered by others.

Not only does the blood escaping your body reek, but so does the stench of injustice. Why can’t we talk about our periods in an open and honest fashion?

The simple act of obtaining a pad or a tampon comes with a hefty price, especially for low-income, incarcerated or homeless individuals. 

The way I learned about sex wasn’t from my parents, nor was it through health classes in secondary schooling. It was through the magic of media.

The task of providing accurate sex education to those who haven’t received it — both locally and globally — is a daunting one. But it’s one that Bezalel and a host of other individuals and organizations are tackling head on.
