Collision with power pole causes North Berkeley intersection closure

The Berkeley Police Department reported a road closure at Hopkins Street and Monterey Avenue in North Berkeley on Friday morning, after a semitruck collided with a power pole at about 7:41 a.m., requiring repairs.

Berkeley hit by flurry of 14 robberies in past week

Berkeley was hit by 14 robberies this past week, with stolen items ranging from a flashlight to a tricycle, according to a Nixle alert released Tuesday.

Man who cross-examined his own victim found guilty of Berkeley kidnapping

Whittier Buck Buchanan, a repeat sex offender, was found guilty for kidnapping and assault with intent to commit a sex crime Monday. Buchanan cross-examined his victim during the trial.
