The Berkeley Police Accountability Board met Wednesday evening to open an investigation into a recent death under the jurisdiction of the Berkeley Police Department, or BPD, a fight at Berkeley High School, policy concerns and to elect a new chair and vice chair.

Berkeley’s Police Accountability Board, or PAB, looked to the future in its final regular meeting of the year Wednesday, hearing updates on search consent policies and other important issues. 

As the city of Berkeley looks to implement the Police Accountability Board, or PAB, this summer to increase policing transparency and public trust, the community remains both doubtful and hopeful.

Berkeley’s Police Review Commission discussed next steps in its transition to the Police Accountability Board at a meeting Wednesday evening.

On Saturday, the ASUC Judicial Council held a meeting to hear two cases brought against ASUC Senator and presidential candidate Chaka Tellem and the ElevateCal coalition he is running with.
