Inspired by her own personal experiences, UC Berkeley alumna Natalie Cleaver launched a nonprofit, BerkeleyToo, aimed at reforming the process for campus community members to report sexual harassment.

Campus professor suspended over sexual harassment allegations

Campus professor Alan Tansman has been suspended after a Title IX investigation found that he violated the university’s sexual violence and sexual harassment, or SVSH, policy between 2007 and 2009, as first reported by the San Francisco Chronicle.

According to the lawsuit, the UC Board of Regents’ actions violated AlSayyad’s right to be free from discrimination based on national origin under the California Fair Employment and Housing Act.

UC Berkeley professor suspended for sex harassment allegations retires, threatens to file lawsuit against university

AlSayyad was suspended for three years without pay effective Aug. 13, after he was found to have sexually harassed a campus graduate student between 2012 and 2014. AlSayyad’s suspension is still in place, according to Wolch.

Berkeley community reacts to proposed federal sexual misconduct policies

The new rules, made public by The New York Times on Wednesday, would extend beyond federal guidance for college sexual misconduct cases to include a narrower definition of sexual harassment and the steps campuses are legally required to take to address it.

UC Berkeley suspends campus architecture professor over sexual harassment allegations

Eva Hagberg Fisher, a former doctoral candidate in the campus architecture program, filed a complaint with the Title IX office in March 2016 against AlSayyad, alleging that he regularly hugged her, invited her for drinks or dinner and gave unsolicited compliments on her appearance while she was studying under him.
