Although Cal entered the semifinals as a strong contender for a spot in the national final, fatal mistakes ended the team’s historic season.

Cal begins the end of its season Thursday at Dickies Arena in Fort Worth, Texas, looking for its first NCAA finals appearance and its best finish in history.

In addition to winning its session and posting its highest season-opening score ever, Cal had the second-highest score in Las Vegas, behind only No. 1 Oklahoma.

Despite posting a program-high beam score at regionals, the Bears placed third, missing out on a second consecutive national championships appearance.
