These efforts make it clear that students, and all people, can build collective power and meaningfully apply pressure on powerful institutions, whether they are leading their own campaigns or planning actions in solidarity.

Nationally, fentanyl remains a significant threat, coupled with inflation and a recession. The walls are closing in for people in San Francisco struggling with addiction and those in recovery. These current issues increase the risk of overdose for people addicted to drugs and relapse while maintaining sobriety.

It’s not just a California problem — across the United States, housing costs are at a record high, households are spending half their money on housing and transportation and driving is more dangerous than it’s ever been since 2002, despite two decades of technological safety improvements.

I can’t remember the last time I cried. Outside of watching movies or reading books, I probably only cry once or twice a year.
