On Wednesday, UC Berkeley College of Engineering announced a new aerospace engineering major, which will be launched in fall 2022.

Bowles Hall reopened this year as a privately-operated, coed residential college, culminating an 11-year effort to revitalize the stately manor that has further stratified the array of housing options available to UC Berkeley undergraduates.

At the end of March, the campus finished unifying services that used to differ across departments –– such as payroll, hiring, and expense reimbursement — completing a common administrative structure several years in the making.

Last month, former Director of Operational Excellence Program Office Peggy Huston began serving as chief operating officer of Campus Shared Services, a campus efficiency and staff realignment program.

The campus Academic Senate, the representative body for faculty, increased GPA requirements Oct. 17 in admissions criteria of student-athletes in an attempt to improve their graduation rates.

A report released Friday that evaluates the academic and campus experience of student-athletes proposes stricter admission standards, improved advising resources and better integration of athletes into campus life.

Just west of California Hall, friends, family and community members gathered around the campus flagpole for a moment of collective mourning to remember the UC Berkeley staff, faculty, emeriti and students who passed away over the last year.
