As a queer man myself, I have a few foolproof tips for any allies on various ways to support your queer friends during Pride Month.

Is Finland a country? Like a real country? According to campus senior Mehak Kaur at Gamma Rho Lambda, a UC Berkeley sorority for queer students, these are the types of questions that are posed, debated and answered by its members.  

The ending of my freshman year was about as anticlimactic as me closing my laptop, but I did feel slightly relieved that a part of it was over. Yet with this relief, I realized that one crucial emotion was missing: pride.

Having pride doesn’t always come easily or naturally. It can feel uncomfortable to acknowledge your accomplishments, but it can also be quite powerful.

Pride is a political statement. But it’s also more than that. It’s about surviving against the odds. It’s about celebrating and showing support for the LGBTQ+ community.

For some immigrants and BIPOC like me, being expressive with our identities can be more challenging than it is for white, non-immigrant people. 

Without fear, I finally see sex as what it is: not a big deal.
