Occupiers of the UC Berkeley George and Mary Foster Anthropology Library reached an agreement with campus and ended their 85-day occupation, as announced by both groups Tuesday.

UC Berkeley Social Sciences Dean Raka Ray announced plans Tuesday to turn the George and Mary Foster Anthropology Library into an open space for students, faculty and community members, which will be controlled by the Anthropology Department, UC Berkeley spokesperson Janet Gilmore said in an email.

The UC Berkeley Anthropology Library will remain open after approximately 40 students and faculty organized a sit-in Friday to protest the closure.
