Cal men’s crew finds success in four races against Washington, taking home the Schoch Cup, while women’s crew finds defeat in four races.

Both men’s and women’s crew will duel it out with their northern rivals, in their 110th annual Cal-Washington Dual, this Saturday at Redwood Shores.

Cal men’s and women’s crew seeked success this weekend, competing in a combined total of 24 races this weekend and coming out first in 22 of those races.

Out of the six races at Redwood Shores, only Cal’s undefeated varsity eight boat and novice eight boat were able to outperform Stanford, with Stanford taking the third varsity eight, second varsity four, varsity four and second varsity eight.

Last weekend, Cal rowing witnessed a return to form as the men swept the Stanford Invitational and the women displayed some dominant performances during the Lake Natoma Invitational.

After both the men and women began the season with sweeps at their first regattas of the spring season, both of them took first in every race at last weekend’s Big Row versus Stanford.

Cal still remains one of the best rowing schools in the nation and will have plenty of chances to make their way back to the top.

You might have heard this one before — both of Cal’s rowing teams swept the field over the entireties of their respective tournaments.

Keeping their reputations as two of the top teams in the country, the Cal men’s and women’s crew teams competed as if the entire world was watching, sweeping the Cardinal to end the 2017 regular season.
