Berkeley City Council approves funding for multiple housing projects

At its Dec. 14 meeting, the Berkeley City Council voted to move forward with an application for state funds to convert Golden Bear Inn on San Pablo Avenue into permanent supportive housing and for the development of supportive housing units on People’s Park, in addition to several other housing projects.

UC Berkeley chooses 2 companies to develop People’s Park

UC Berkeley hired an architecture firm and a supportive housing developer to initiate the transformation of People’s Park into a housing complex — which will serve students and homeless community members. The construction is set to begin in two years and will be occupied by 2023, according to campus spokesperson Dan Mogulof.
