Our ticket to safer streets requires city investment in traffic safety

While the Berkeley Police Department writes tickets to people who come to a rolling stop on traffic-calmed bikeways, a cyclist dies after a tire gets stuck on a road gate. UC Berkeley chooses 2 companies to develop People’s Park

UC Berkeley hired an architecture firm and a supportive housing developer to initiate the transformation of People’s Park into a housing complex — which will serve students and homeless community members. The construction is set to begin in two years and will be occupied by 2023, according to campus spokesperson Dan Mogulof.
