The ASUC is holding a “Time of the Month Drive” to collect pads, tampons and diapers to distribute to those in need in the Berkeley community.

At its regular Wednesday meeting, the ASUC Senate heard from City Council District 4 candidate Kate Harrison, passed a resolution to charter the ASUC chapter of the Cal Alumni Association and moved two resolutions into committees.

The ASUC Senate held a special meeting Sunday to make up for its last Wednesday meeting — which was canceled because of safety concerns regarding the shelter-in-place on campus — and passed three resolutions, including a resolution calling for UC Regent Norman Pattiz’s resignation and another adding a referendum to April’s election ballot.

During this week’s regular Wednesday ASUC Senate meeting, senators moved a new business resolution — that calls for the resignation of UC Regent Norman Pattiz — to committee for discussion, and heard from the new Chief Legal Officer, Prathyush Parasuraman.

On Friday evening, the ASUC office of the Chief Financial Officer released some internal financial information about ASUC leadership spending on a new website in an effort towards greater transparency.

At the two listening sessions Wednesday night, students expressed their desire for a chancellor who is more attentive to students’ needs.

More than 100 students and activists gathered on Sproul Plaza on Friday to protest the campus’s new cancel for nonpayment policy, alleging that the initiative disproportionately targets marginalized communities.
