As the MPSF Championship tournament approaches, all eyes are on the Cal women’s water polo team. With a strong season under their belt and a talented roster, the Bears are poised to make a deep run in the tournament and compete for the championship title.

The two-game win streak for No. 5 Cal women’s water polo ended Saturday when it was defeated 11-6 by the No. 3 UCLA Bruins.

It’s a clash of the titans as the Bears and Bruins gear up for an intense women’s water polo game. These two powerhouse teams will face off in what promises to be a thrilling match on the pool deck.

Cal made their way back to their home of California to face University of the Pacific on Sunday, April 2. The Bears (16-6) were always in control of the game, while the Tigers (18-7) were only able to score two goals through the first three quarters. The six goals scored by Pacific were equal for the team's second-lowest total of the season.

The Bears traveled all the way to sunny Hawaii, only to be met with two agonizing losses.

The Bears have been making waves in the water polo world, and they continued their dominance over the weekend with impressive victories over Harvard and Indiana University.

The Bears take a break from MPSF conference games as they host Harvard this Wednesday, and then they will return to in-conference play as they face Indiana on Saturday.

With the MPSF conference title up for grabs later this season, Cal battled one of its toughest competitors this past Saturday and fell short in an overtime match.

After a delay of game, due to thunder and lightning, the Bears didn’t let the elements affect them and they came out with a high scoring victory of 17-11. Junior Ruby Swadling helped get Cal off to a great start with four first-half assists, while freshman Millie Quin took over in the second half and set a new season high with four goals.

The Barbara Kalbus Invitational is one of the most prestigious tournaments in collegiate water polo. Named in honor of Barbara Kalbus, a legendary figure in women's water polo, the tournament was the most competitive facing the Bears have experienced so far.
