UC Berkeley’s commencement ceremony for the spring class of 2023 is set for Saturday, May 13 at 10:30 a.m. at the California Memorial Stadium. 

To share my story requires doing so on my own terms, and to do that takes an incredible amount of vulnerability.

On Saturday night, you may have entered the Fillmore thinking it was 2018 — but with the neon pink chandeliers, smells of cigarettes and Houndmouth’s performance, it felt like you had time traveled to the late ‘70s.

Ski Mask the Slump God is a rapper known for his ridiculously catchy lyrics. He stands out, not in the way that a more mainstream pop-rapper like Drake would but more so amongst dedicated fans of hip-hop music.

Watching Jaden Smith run and bounce across the stage with a seemingly infinite supply of energy leaves no doubt that the 20-year-old rapper had an incredible time performing his Rolling Loud 2018 set.

Unfortunately, Playboi Carti’s Rolling Loud set Saturday hit none of these marks. The most excited the crowd ever got was before the show when the DJ played A$AP Rocky and Skepta’s song “Praise the Lord.”
