In a set of Wednesday meetings that began with a full public commentary session, the UC regents reviewed incoming budget updates, heard comments on development projects and assessed academic equity.

On its second day of virtual meetings this week, the UC Board of Regents approved a report on student basic needs as well as the 2021-22 budget plan.

To kick off this week’s virtual meetings, the UC Board of Regents approved a pension asset allocation proposal and discussed how to support basic needs on campuses and create sustainable and diverse investment partnerships Tuesday.

The UC Board of Regents met Tuesday to discuss methods of making financial aid letters more accessible for students.

The UC Board of Regents committees on finances, investments and basic needs met virtually Tuesday over Zoom to discuss the UC system’s financial needs and burdens on students.

Varsha Sarveshwar, the president of the UC Student Association, and Connor Strobel, the president of the UC Graduate and Professional Council, criticized the Student Aid Improvement Act of 2019 for failing to address many student priorities in a joint statement released Tuesday. 

The Free Application for Federal Student Aid will be released Oct. 1 this year, three months earlier than in previous years as part of efforts to make the application easier and more accurate.
