The Bears (3-6) kicked off their conference schedule against the Tigers (7-5), and action picked up right from the start. In the second minute, Rylee Comeau got Pacific on the board with a shot past the goalkeeper’s shoulder.

No. 25 Cal fell to No. 13 Iowa and No. 14 Northwestern this weekend by scores of 4-1 and 2-0, respectively, but the matches were much closer than they seem. The Bears created ample opportunities in both games, but ultimately, the ball simply did not roll in their favor.

Cal got three shots on goal in the first eight minutes alone, displaying a newfound degree of confidence gained from last weekend’s thrilling overtime loss.

On Saturday and Sunday, Cal field hockey travels to Kentucky to face off against No. 2 North Carolina and the host team, No. 11 Louisville.

The experience of winning a close game over a solid Miami team will undoubtedly give Cal more confidence going forward as the season continues.

Sophomore Megan Rodgers led the way with three goals in Cal's 3-0 win over Providence and spearheaded an offense that flowed smoothly.
