During its Tuesday hearing, the higher education committee of the California State Assembly voted in favor of moving forward with a bill that would create a new UC campus dedicated to STEAM fields, which are science, technology, engineering, art and mathematics.

A California State Senate bill, which would change the requirements to be a sexual assault counselor in the state and affect the UC system’s sexual assault counseling procedures, was postponed indefinitely Tuesday.

New state Assembly bill would cap nonresident population at 10 percent per UC campus

A state Assembly member introduced a bill this month that would cap the nonresident student population of each UC campus at 10 percent. The bill, AB 1370, does not appear to affect nonresident students currently attending UC campuses that exceed the proposed 10 percent nonresident cap. Instead, those campuses would be prohibited
