The Office of the ASUC External Affairs Vice President, or EAVP, and Student Advocate Sophie Bandarkar explained to congressional staffers the possible effects brought by the forthcoming amendments to federal Title IX guidelines.

Most of the edits are about the code’s procedures, according to campus spokesperson Adam Ratliff, and they do not represent an actual overhaul. The last review and true overhaul of the code was in 2012.

The resolution calling for senate support of Prop. 10 was passed into the University and External Affairs Committee for further assessment.

The night’s results mark a major victory for Student Action, which won all the executive seats it campaigned for, and a tough loss for CalSERVE, with only party member Nuha Khalfay managing to secure a spot in the executive office.

After more than a month of campaigning on many different platforms — ranging from striking up conversation on Sproul Plaza to mass-messaging students on Facebook — ASUC candidates pulled out all the stops this week in a last-minute effort to vie for students’ votes.

The Daily Californian editorial board interviewed each candidate and considered their experience, platforms and values when deciding who to endorse. UC Berkeley students deserve representatives who will tackle important issues head-on, and we’re confident these individuals will.

There’s only one clear choice for student advocate: Sophie Bandarkar.
