James Weichert, a sophomore at UC Berkeley studying computer science and data science with a minor in public policy, announced his campaign for academic affairs vice president, or AAVP, in the upcoming ASUC elections. Weichert referenced his experience as a chief of staff in the ASUC Office of Academic Affairs under current AAVP Nicole Anyanwu as part of his inspiration for running as an independent candidate.
