Berkeley City Council votes unanimously to oppose Alta Bates closure

At its regular meeting Tuesday, Berkeley City Council voted unanimously to oppose the closure of Alta Bates Summit Medical Center in Berkeley and increase housing development in the Telegraph Commercial District.

Alta Bates nurses strike for sixth time over contract reductions

Registered nurses at the Alta Bates Summit Medical Center in Berkeley went on their sixth strike Thursday along with six other East Bay hospitals in protest of contract negotiations with Sutter Health Corporation.

Alta Bates nurses strike over Sutter Health contract reductions

Registered nurses at Alta Bates Summit Medical Center in Berkeley went on strike today. Strikes have been recurring since contract negotiations between nurses and the healthcare provider began in May 2011.
