Roberts is here to leave a legacy. She recognizes the importance of the platform provided to her, noting the position as a “privilege” that she takes seriously.

We encourage the student body to read about the student leaders making decisions that will affect their experiences during their time at Berkeley, and in some cases beyond, as we follow the long road to April 2024 elections. 

While the search for chancellor Carol Christ’s replacement has not yet begun, two student representatives have been appointed to the search committee. 

The ASUC Office of the President chief of staff and 2023-24 President-elect, Sydney Roberts, was found guilty on both charges of violating bylaws of the ASUC constitution by the Judicial Council on Friday.

Hearings for petitions against two ASUC presidential candidates are scheduled to occur April 21, and with discussion of these petitions and the 2023 ASUC general election still in the air, questions about the role of the ASUC Judicial Council arise.

Despite recent conversations surrounding the merits of political parties within the ASUC, ElevateCal secured two major positions within the ASUC executive slate at Friday’s tabulation ceremony. 

Sydney Roberts, a campus junior and chief of staff to ASUC president Chaka Tellem, is running for 2023-24 ASUC President.

Skyelar Montgomery, a sophomore studying legal studies with double minors in Race and the Law and political economy, is running for ASUC Senate.

ASUC presidential candidate Chaka Tellem is running for the office in hopes of building a better Berkeley, one he said will center students’ needs.
