Transfer Remedy Act

With the exception of the Transfer Student Representative, no transfer students were elected to senate or executive positions in the spring 2023 ASUC election cycle.

The ASUC Elections Council held its annual “Point of No Return” meeting Friday, during which it discussed election procedures and finalized the candidates and order of this year’s ballot.

As voting for the 2019 ASUC elections begins, many students remain uninformed about specific ASUC candidates and their platforms, according to voters and ASUC campaigners.

Despite the fact that transfer students currently make up nearly 30 percent of UC Berkeley’s incoming class, not a single transfer student was elected to the ASUC Senate in 2018. Without transfer representation within the ASUC Senate, decisions that impact these community members will be made without their input.

The ASUC Elections Council met Friday for its annual Point of No Return meeting, during which it determined ballot specificities for the 2019 ASUC elections.

The 2019 ASUC elections offer students the opportunity to vote for candidates and also the chance to vote on three referendums: the Student Basic Needs Referendum, the Transfer Remedy Act and the Arts, Music and Programming Initiative.
