Cal will host no. 21 Colorado for the first game of its final homestand of the season and the 10th annual Pete Newell classic.

Cal found itself on the wrong end of a road game once again, this time to No. 24 Colorado. The Bears are now 0-9 on the road.

Colorado is a very strong team, but if the Bears play how they did in their most recent three games, they can make it a tight contest

To quote Nigel Tufnel from the movie “This Is Spinal Tap,” “These go to 11.”

Those three games may have come at home, but if conference play has taught us anything, it’s that home-court victories are far from a guarantee. If Porter can return to pre-injury form, these Trojans will really be a problem.

After a series of blowouts in the past few games, the Bears managed to keep this one close before ultimately succumbing to the Buffaloes stampede.

Both Cal and Colorado enter their matchup Thursday night struggling in conference play, with the Bears (5-13, 0-6) still looking for their first Pac-12 win of the season after being blown out by both Washington and Washington State on their Pacific Northwest road trip.

All optimism was thrown in an incinerator when UCLA’s coughed up a 12-point lead at home to Belmont.

Then, Colorado happened. The Buffaloes didn’t start the first week of the year by beating one of the Arizona teams — they beat both in nail-biting fashion.
