Grading changes implemented in light of COVID-19 pandemic prompt student concern

In light of the COVID-19, or the new coronavirus, pandemic, campus has implemented grading changes for spring 2020, including defaulting all undergraduate courses to the pass/no pass, or P/NP, grading system.

UC Berkeley graduate student fights human trafficking through algorithms

Rebecca Portnoff, a doctoral candidate in the UC Berkeley School of Engineering, developed two algorithms aimed to scan through online sex advertisements and find human trafficking circles.

5 UC Berkeley graduate programs 1st in nation in US News & World Report rankings

UC Berkeley’s graduate programs in chemistry, computer science, English, history and sociology — as well as 24 specialty programs — received 1st place rankings, though tying with some other universities in certain categories. In 2014, UC Berkeley ranked 1st for English, history and sociology.
